Our olive oil producers

We prefer small, family businesses or groups of producers that cultivate olives on the basis of the new rationale of integrated management and who usually maintain small olive groves with enthusiasm and respect to the land that nurtures them. Our producers cultivate olives in the traditional manner, which is mainly based on manual labour, and avoid the use of chemicals or other products that degrade soil quality and create risks for consumer health.

Our network of associates is quite large, ranging over the whole island of Crete, and may vary from one harvest year to the next. This is because olive oil is a living product and its quality depends on numerous factors. Therefore, its flavour, colour and acidity differ from year to year. Thus, each year we look for the region and olive producers that produced the finest quality of olive oil according to the criteria set by CandiaSoil.
